Tattoo

My goodness how the time flies! I can't believe I last posted in May!

The summer has gone, the leaves are turning and Autumn is definitely in full glory, I am still running in the Forest a couple of times a week and it is such a pleasure to be in nature. I don't know how long I shall be able to do this as the nights are already drawing in.

Last Saturday was just one of those delightful days when the sun is shining I thought I would take picture of my latest project.

I have always wanted a tattoo, but sadly, I know that I am a bit of a wimp, so any tattoo I had would end up just a dot with a long long line as I ran out of the shop! I do like them, so I thought the next best thing would be to make a tattoo jacket.

It is fairly easy to do, just find a pack of those stick on transfers and then use some fabric medium to set them. The skill is getting them symmetrical, although you could cheat and try a non symmetrical design!

The great thing about this idea is that you will have a completely unique item of clothing, with very little effort!

If you must have something, it should be beautiful

This started out life as a boring cork notice board, continuing my theme of dotting flowers over everything I thought I would brighten it up a little!


the colours have altered on the screen, it is a lovely pale baby blue.



The corners have little button bow and the top has the same in its centre and of course some lovely sparkly glitter swirls!

Customising finished at last

Last night I went to the first Friday Night Knitting Club at our new wool store, there was a lovely atmosphere with knitters of all ages, tea and cake. Dulcie showed us some wonderful wool, even self patterning of all things! She is also selling gorgeous Al paca wool from a man trying to support an Inca village, by selling direct. They are fantastic women who have made the shop such a lovely place to go I am sure I will be doing much more crochet.

I am on my second scarf at the moment, they make such great pressies and so relaxing to do.


I bought this cardigan a few years ago, it had a thick rib bottom and cuffs. It was one of those items of clothing that I would put on, look in the mirror and then take off again. So I removed the ribbing and created a lace crochet trim on the bottom edge and the cuffs. I finished it at the group last night. Now it seems to fit much nicer round my waist I am happy to wear it.



Back edge details - I added the ribbon trim too. Dolly is such a great model!



I think the most wonderful thing about crochet is you can add to almost any garment. Great for customising, as well as lace edgings and corsages. Knitting by comparison is just boring, or maybe that is because I spend most of my time picking up dropped stitches!

I bought this pink top from M&S a couple of years ago, but I was never really happy wearing it as it seemed to be baggy and unflattering, yet I loved the colour. So I decided to investigate a little and I noticed that the sides were around 6 inches too long so I cut the ends off and attached some ribbon for ties rather than the boring knitted ones. I then took the top in a little at the sides, which seemed to fit the dummy better. I had the pink ribbon in my stash and decided it made the edge of the cardigan really stand out, so I sewed round the edges. I love the new look of the top.
The skirt was on a bargain rail but once again I was never really satisfied with the fit. Using the dummy I created two darts at the back which helped reduce the width at the waist, making it easier to fit round the waist. One of the difficulties of an hourglass figure.

When I finished I was delighted with my new outfit! It is surprising how many compliments I get when I wear this!
